Raze Learn / Beginner guide

Your first snowboard wax: a home tuning guide.

Cleaning, waxing, scraping, and brushing, plus which tools belong in a first board setup. This is general orientation, not a replacement for the board maker instructions.

Build a routine that fits your setup.

Home tuning starts with knowing the tools and the steps. Work on a secure, stable surface, and follow the wax maker when this guide is more general than the package.

01 What you need

A waxing iron, wax, a compatible acrylic scraper, brushes, and a stable way to hold the board. Take the bindings off, or cover them so the iron and scraper never catch a strap or a disk.

02 Prepare the board

Support the board so it cannot slide. Clean the base, and let it dry. A wider board needs the same thin coat as a ski, spread so the edges are covered without pooling in the middle.

03 Apply wax

Use the iron temperature on the wax package. Let the coat cool fully. Raze does not apply this coat.

04 Scrape excess wax

Scrape from tip toward tail in overlapping passes. The holder gives you a place to put your hand so you are pushing the scraper, not squeezing a bare blade. Two screws hold a standard 5 mm acrylic scraper in the concept design.

05 Brush and finish

Brush out the structure the wax left behind. Check that no thick patch remains near the bindings area, where it is easy to miss.

06 Common questions

A first wax does not need a full shop bench. It does need the iron, wax, scraper, and brush, used in that order. The partner wax and brush on this site are not live products.
